Jeff Collins is the new Upstate Regional Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association. Since the pandemic hit a year ago, the ADA has been able to continue programs, most online and lobby for cheaper prescriptions costs for diabetic medicine. Jeff says progress has been made in making insulin more readily available thru technology–there are insulin meters the size of a ager that can automatically get insulin into a patient so they don’t have to give themselves shots anymore. Research continues into how to cure, if you will, diabetes. Type 2 can be controlled and eliminated through proper diet and exercise. Once again this year the annual Tour De Cure fundraiser will be virtual on June 8th with ADA’s from a cross the country taking part in it not he same day. People can share their ride, run or walk on social media.
