Marti Casper speaks with Schottland YMCA Executive Director Jeff Cogan and YMCA of Greater Rochester Communications Manager Pam Cowan about the positive impact the newly opened Schottland Y has had on the community. It’s a national prototype–a full service health & wellness center, child care, pre-school, senior center and medical facility all under one roof. Since it opened in September, membership has grown 4 fold–the annual campaign raises money to help people who wish to join with financial assistance. This year over 2 million dollars was raised and applications for aid have grown monthly from about 15 to nearly 100. The joining fee will be waived December 22nd through January 3rd.
