Happy National Hot Tea Day! Did you know after water, tea is the most widely consumed drink in the world? The drink was first popularized during the Tang dynasty in China, and it eventually spread to other East Asian and European countries. Tea plants are native to East Asia, with China, India, Kenya and Sri Lanka being the biggest tea-producing countries. The difference between types of tea (like green tea, white tea, black tea, and oolong), is how the tea leaves are processed and the amount of oxidation. While India is the world’s largest tea-drinking nation, Turkey is the world’s greatest per capita consumer, with around 7 lbs of tea consumed per person per year. Learn more here.
