March 2, 2022 – Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park turns 150 this week! It was our first National Park, established and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. It’s known for it’s wildlife – including the oldest and largest public bison herd in the U.S. – and it’s many geothermal features. There are at least 10,000 geothermal features like geysers, hot springs, and mudpots. Over half the world’s geysers and hydrothermal features are found within the park. Yellowstone is one of most popular national parks in the U.S., with at least 2 million tourists visiting the park every year since the mid-1960s. Learn more here.
