Dame Angela Lansbury, one of the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, passed away yesterday at the age of 96. Her astonishing career spanned 8 decades, and she played many roles across film, stage, and television. While her career started in the 1940s with MGM, her best known role was playing Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote for 12 seasons. It was one of the longest-running and most popular detective shows in TV history. She was also known for her roles in classic children’s movies, like Bednobs and Broomsticks, Beauty and the Beast, Anastasia and more. She never won an Emmy Award, and as of 2009, held the record for most unsuccessful Emmy nominations by a performer. She did, however, win 6 Tony Awards and 6 Golden Globe Awards. Learn more here.
