October 20, 2022 – Beetlejuice

Happy Throwback Thursday! Today we’re featuring the year 1988, the year the classic comedy Beetlejuice was released! It was directed by Tim Burton, and starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton. The screenplay was originally written as a horror movie, but Burton had it rewritten to be more comedic. Burton’s original choice to play Beetlejuice was Sammy Davis Jr., of all people, who was 63 years old at the time. One of the films producers suggested Michael Keaton, and while Burton wasn’t familiar with his work, he was quickly convinced. Keaton would later appear in 2 more Burton films, Batman and Batman Returns. Learn more here.
