Fairport Canal Days 5/28/23

Ed Smith interviewed Nancy Ragues, Director of the Fairport Perinton Partnership, Lydia Rugaber, Chairperson for Fairport Canal Days and on the board for the Fairport Perinton Partnership and Rhonda Morelli, Marketing Manager at the Ide Family of Dealership and on the board of the Fairport Perinton Partnership.
-Nancy explained what the Fairport Perinton Partnership is and how they formed back in 2000.
-Nancy talked about how they are a nonprofit that works with the town of Perinton, Village of Fairport, Fairport Perinton Merchants Association and other local organizations to do design, outreach, promotions, programs and events that help Fairport and Perinton grow into the future. 

-Nancy talked about a few of their current projects like the train platform in the village and the Learning Links that provides support to refugee and migrant families trying to relocate in Fairport.
-She explained that the organization is mostly volunteers; local community members that donate their experience and time to help out others.
-Nancy encouraged people who might be considering starting a business or someone with an idea for the Fairport-Perinton community to reach out to the Fairport Perinton Partnership.
-They believe one of the biggest strengths of the organization is being able to connect people with other local people to help make more educated decisions.
-Lydia talk about this year’s Fairport Canal Days event and some of the new features this year
-She described how this is a major event for the Fairport Perinton Merchants Association
-They talked about how they have other events planned for this year designed to draw people into the village in hopes of supporting the local businesses
-Lydia said they are looking for volunteers to assist with Fairport Canal Days
-Rhonda talked about her company’s desire to support the local community by giving back to local nonprofits and supporting community events.
