Scott Fitzgerald interviewed Matthew Hoye, the Founder and President of Sobriety Sound.
-Matthew talked about his own personal addiction struggle and an interaction he had years ago with a friend trying to stay sober. He didn’t realize his friend liked to play guitar until after he died from an overdose. This experience inspired Mat to create Sobriety Sound.
-Matthew spoke about the mission of the nonprofit which is to help musicians and others in addiction recovery find their creativity in sobriety and provide them with a safe space for that creative work
-He talked about how they continue to do community outreach, pop up events they are doing, taking instruments to different facilities for patients to play music
-His long term goal is to continue to build a studio facility for people to come and express their creativity and to continue doing more community outreach to let people know they are there to support them while on the road to recovery
-Mathew also talked about an upcoming day-long fundraising event on September 2nd, it is open to the public and they will have equipment on hand for people to write songs and play music.
