Ed Smith spoke with Karyn Rando, Director of Counseling Operations for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Rochester.
-Karyn talked about the organization being a nonprofit that has helped thousands of individuals and families deal with their financial difficulties over the last 50 year.
-She explained that all of the credit counselors are certified professionals that are well trained, they continue to take more courses so they are up to speed on the latest regulations and current issues facing people when it comes to debt.
-She talked about how people with debt issues are more likely to open up to the credit counselors because they feel shame with family members and friends.
– Karyn talked about how they are seeing a steady increase in people dealing with financial issues due to inflation.
-She explained some of their programs; debt management, budget counseling and bankruptcy.
-The goal is to keep folks from going into bankruptcy and stay on a plan to pay down their debt.
-They have a few events coming up in February; Drive to Success event and Empowering Homeownership.
-She encouraged people who are struggling financially to reach out to their office for free help.
