Happy 460th Birthday William Shakespeare! He continues to be the world’s best-selling playwright, with more than 4 billion copies of his plays and poetry sold in the 400 years since his death. He’s also the most quoted writer in the history of the English-speaking world, after the writers of the Bible. Despite his many contributions to literature and language, surprisingly little is known about Shakespeare’s life, and very few records of his private life survived.
