Happy Throwback Thursday! Today we’re featuring the year 1979, the year Pink Floyd’s best-selling album The Wall was released. It was their 11th studio album, and it’s the band’s second best-selling album (after The Dark Side of the Moon). Pink Floyd’s bassist, Roger Waters, modeled the main character of the rock opera after himself and the band’s former frontman, Syd Barrett. Though it initially received mixed reviews from critics, the album is now considered one of the greatest of all time. It sold over a million copies in its first 2 months of sales, and over 30 million copies have been sold to date. It’s the best selling double-album of all time and one of the best-selling albums of all time. It was made into a feature film in 1982, with the screenplay written by Waters. Learn more here.
