It’s Throwback Thursday! Today our throwback year is 1975, the year that gave us Watergate Salad! Made with pistachio pudding, canned pineapple, whipped topping, crushed pecans, and marshmallows, General Foods developed the recipe in 1975, the same year Jell-O introduced their pistachio pudding mix. They called it Pistachio Pineapple Delight, and it’s unclear where the “Watergate Salad” name came from. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t invented at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., and there’s no record of it ever being served there. Learn more in the audio below.
