Chuck Kelley spoke with Brian Kinel from the Don Litzelman Foundation.
-Brian explained the history of the organization and how they have evolved over the years.
– They started out providing a scholarship to a student in memory of Don Litzelman but have now evolved into a community resource for people dealing with cancer.
-They want to make it easy for a family or person who has just been diagnosed with cancer to find all the resources available by listing them on one website.
-They provide information on financial assistance, education and social and emotional support groups in our community.
-He talked about their upcoming events to do community outreach and make people aware of their organization.
They are continuing to expand and grow their “Face Off Against Cancer” campaign with Fairport and Canandiauga playing a lacrosse game next week.
-Brian talked about various high schools and colleges in our area designating certain games as “Face Off Against Cancer” games to help increase awareness of the resources available for people dealing with cancer. Many of the players are wearing special jerseys to honor loved ones that have battled cancer.
