We’ve come to the final day of our 4 Forgotten Founding Fathers theme week! Our final Founding Father is Roger Sherman, who was very influential and is often overlooked! He’s especially notable for being the only person to sign all 4 great state papers of the United States – the Articles of Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. Though he was pretty much self-education, he passed the bar in 1754 and established a legal career in Litchfield County, Connecticut. He represented Connecticut at the Continental Congress, and he was on the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence. Sherman also introduced the Connecticut Compromise, which led to the formation of a bicameral legislature and established the basis of our present system of federal government.
