Stuart Hencke, Executive Director of the Rochester Education Foundation talks about the programs and impact the REF has on education in the city school district. Rochester Education Foundation (REF) began in 2003 to create tangible ways to help city school students in Rochester become more successful. Its founders were determined to be independent of the Rochester City School District and apolitical, with a focus on helping students in city schools become successful adults. The mission is to provide programs and resources to improve learning and success for all Rochester city public school students through partnerships with educators, businesses, and the community. Their annual fundraising event, Toast To REF runs October 11th through the 21st with virtual auctions and the finale event online at rochestereducaiton.org at 7:30pm October 21st.
