October 4, 2022 – Mount Rushmore

On this day in 1927, work began on Mount Rushmore! Situated in the Black Hills of South Dakota, it was the idea of South Dakota’s state historian to help increase tourism to the state. The 60 foot faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln were chosen to represent the first 150 years of our nation’s history. Learn more here.
