Open Door Mission 12/18/22

Ed Smith spoke with Kate Munzinger, Vice President at the Open Door Mission in the city of Rochester.  Kate gave an update on the Miller Building, and old warehouse downtown that they received a grant to refurbish and convert into 24 apartments for homeless individuals.  Kate spoke about Code Blue as we are now into the winter months in Rochester.  The Open Door Mission provides a warm place for homeless people to go when temperatures are extremely cold.  The Open Door Mission also has social workers to help with medical, financial, and other issues members of the community might be facing.  Kate spoke about how the need is greater than ever before and that they are at capacity or almost capacity most nights.  Munzinger spoke about their addiction recovery program and their eviction prevention program.  She shared about the Women and Children program they have in Gates.  The Open Door Mission is always looking for volunteers as well as food, clothing and cash donations.
