July 2, 2025 – Theme Week Day 3

This is day 3 of our theme week on 4 Forgotten Founding Fathers! Today’s Founding Father is Samuel Adams. He’s more than just the name of a beer! He was a leader of the movement that became the American Revolution and also signed the Declaration of Independence. Before getting into politics, he was an unsuccessful businessman and tax collector. Adams was influential in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and had a leading role in the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party. Although it’s unknown just how involved he was, after the Boston Tea Party, Adams was celebrated as a hero. He was called the “Father of the American Revolution”, and Thomas Jefferson called him “truly the man of the Revolution”. Contrary to popular belief, Sam Adams never brewed beer! He was, however, a partner in his family’s malthouse, which made the malt necessary for brewing beer. Learn more in the audio below!
