‘Gremlins 3′, the third live-action film in the “Gremlins’ franchise, is set for theatrical release November 2027. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline were first to report the news.

Steven Spielberg is on board to executive produce the film for Warner Bros., while Chris Columbus will also return to produce and direct. All other details, including a plot description and casting news, have not been disclosed.

Columbus penned the original 1984 film, which famously led to the creation of the PG-13 rating. Directed by Joe Dante, ‘Gremlins’ follows a boy named Billy who receives a cute, furry creature called a Mogwai as a pet but is warned to never expose the animal to bright light, water or to feed him after midnight. Once those rules are broken, the gremlin spawns more of its kind and end up wreaking havoc on Billy’s hometown during Christmas. “Gremlins” was a box office hit with $212 million dollars worldwide, with the sequel, 1990’s “Gremlins 2: The New Batch,” earning $41 million. Two seasons of an animated prequel series also aired from 2023- 2025.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ president of development and production Jesse Ehrman said in a statement: “Few titles are as beloved and iconic as ‘Gremlins,’ and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.”
